Bournemouth Sports v Wimborne Town Reserves FC

Dorset Premier League 11.12.23

Wimborne Town secured a 2-0 win at Bournemouth Sports on a blustery afternoon at Chapel Gate to claim pole position in the Dorset Premier League.

The visitors started well and were gifted the lead on 5 minutes when a poor back pass was intercepted by Jamie Johnson to fire past Sports keeper Tom Straetmans.

Straetmans pulled of a fine save during the half to keep the visitors at bay whilst at the other end Sports striker Sam Darlow saw a long range effort sail over the bar and a Jack Voisey shot following a long throw into the box was handled well by Wimborne keeper Henry Birtwistle. HT 0-1

Into the second and with the wind now behind them Wimborne had the lions share of possession, but a resilient Sports defence held firm. Indeed some last ditch defending and another fine save from Straetmans denied the visitors, but shortly afterwards Jamie Johnson was picked out inside the box to fire home to make it 2-0.

Sports never gave up and kept counter attacking with full backs Jake Perch, Matt Ellis and substitutes Chris Houlihan & Harry Morgan looking lively. A few half chances came to no avail and the visitors held held for the win and three points.
