Bournemouth Sports 7 – Sherborne Town Reserves 0

Saturday 30th Dec 2023. Chapel Gate. KO 12.30

Bournemouth Sports signed off a somewhat erratic 2023 with a big win and fine performance.

It was a somewhat tense opening 20 minutes of the game with chances few and far between at either end of the pitch. However the hosts broke the deadlock in the 24 minute when Sports striker Sam Darlow was fouled inside the box and scored himself from the resulting penalty kick.

The hosts then doubled their lead on 33 minutes when Jamie Trimble converted from close range following a goal mouth scramble from a corner. Sports were further ahead 3 minutes later following excellent play from Karol Borowski which saw him round Sherborne Keeper Ryan Knibbs and his goal bound effort was tapped home by Sam Darlow.

Rampant Sports added two more goals before half time when central defender Cameron Shaw finished off an excellent solo run into the box and again that man Shaw would convert from close range following a corner just before the half time break. HT 5-0

Into the second half and the men from Chapel Gate seemed to drop off in terms on momentum whilst the visitors packed out numbers behind the ball to ensure damage limitation following the dismissal of one of their players in the first half. Sports added a couple more goals in the second half from Jack Voisey and substitute Dan Haywood, but could have got into double figures on another day.

An important win for Bournemouth Sports as they look to build on this result and performance going into 2024.
