13.08.25 – 6.30 KO – Chapel Gate

Reigning DPL champions Bournemouth Sports secured their first win of the season with a 5-1 win over Verwood Town at Chapel Gate.
The game was well contested throughout with the visitors starting brightly and winning a succession of corners. However it was the hosts who took the lead in the 23rd minute when a long throw from full back Max Norris was converted by Sports central defender Cam Shaw.
Verwood would soon level three minutes later from a corner. Sergio Craciun near post delivery deceived the hosts and was converted from close range. Bournemouth would take the lead in the 30th minute when a pin point cross from Max Norris was headed home by striker Rob Howard. HT 2-1
Into the second half and again both sides had an equal amount of possession and the breakthrough came in the 62nd minute when a Jake Terry long throw was converted by winger Taylor Webb.
Verwood would have a purple patch from here on with plenty of possession, lots of balls forward, winning numerous corners, but the men from Chapel Gate defended well to see off any threat.
The hosts would wrap the game up late on when winger Kian Bright put Verwood keeper Matthew Edmonds under pressure and calmly slotted home from an acute angle in the 89th minute. Bournemouth would add another in injury time when a Jake Perch long throw was headed home by substitute Danny Hansford. FT 5-1
