Development

The club prides itself on its coaching staff, and not only has several FA Level 2 coaches, but all of our managers have a minimum FA Level 1 coaching qualification. We also have a specialist FA qualified Goal-Keeping coach who delivers dedicated training to all Bournemouth Sports goalkeepers each week.

The club encourages parents to become involved in the coaching and management of its teams. We offer subsidised FA courses in coaching, emergency first aid, and refereeing. For information on our development opportunities please contact the club secretary.

We are also on the look out for qualified referees  to officiate at our matches. We actively encourage young referees to enter the sport, and provide support and encouragement to them. For refereeing opportunities please see here.

Coaching

Throughout all of our age groups we aim to increase each players ball skills as well as their team play and overall understanding of the game.

Our program starts in mini-soccer, where we teach basic footballing skills, and works through the different ages, adding new skills and improving existing ones. We offer group coaching to encourage team interaction, but also one-to-one specialist coaching for our goal-keepers.

The club prides itself on its coaching staff. All our coaches have a minimum FA Level 1 coaching qualification, FA Safeguarding and first aid.  All coaches and assistants are required to undergo a full DBS check. As of 2023, all assistants also now have to have completed the Safeguarding Children course and FA Playmaker.

Fees

Monthly fees are payable by standing order and will vary depending on the age of the team. Training costs are currently £6 per 1½hour session per week.

FA Courses

Not only do we actively look for new players to strengthen our squads, we also recruit parents and other volunteers to coach and manage our teams, referee our home games, and assist in the running and administration of the club as a whole.

The FA provide a wide variety of coaching, refereeing and administrative courses. The club is able to subsidise, and in some cases pay in full, the cost of these courses for our volunteers, provided you agree to a minimum service commitment to the club.

If you are interested in becoming more involved in our club, please use the Join Us form, or email the Club Secretary.

Refereeing

Without a referee no game would take place.

Referees are responsible for ensuring fair play, that FA rules are followed, and that all players are protected whilst on the pitch.

From the age of 14 you can train to be an FA qualified referee, and our club actively encourages new referees to undertake this training.

We provide financial assistance towards obtaining this qualification (subject to a minimum service commitment) and ongoing support from our Development Team (including a former County Level Referee).

As we currently have a large team base, we are constantly on the look out for additional referees. If you think you would enjoy the opportunity to officiate at our home matches, please use the Join Us form, or email the Club Secretary. Our payment rates are regularly reviewed and remain competitive with local leagues.
