Verwood Town 1 v 3 Bournemouth Sports

Potterne Park – 22.11.25

Bournemouth Sports recorded a fourth consecutive win in all competitions with a 3-1 victory against Verwood at a very wet Potterne Park.

Weather conditions coupled with a very muddy pitch contributed to a very scrappy game at times and the first half saw chances few and far between. The hosts had a few crosses into the Bournemouth box and shots that didn’t trouble Bournemouth keeper Jakub Lewiarz whilst for the visitors a couple of shots from outside the area by Jake Perch went wide and Captain Taylor Edwards also saw two efforts flash across the face of the goal.

The deadlock was broken just before half time when a Max Norris corner deceived Verwood keeper Atygai Alimov and ended up going in just inside the near post. HT 0-1

With the weather deteriorating in the second half the game lacked fluency, but Lewiarz had to be on guard to pull off a fine save in the 65th minute to keep his side ahead. Moments later substitute Rob Howard bundled home from close range following a cross to the far post provided by Taylor Webb. Indeed Howard would almost add to his tally a couple of moments later, but saw his effort go wide of the target.

Verwood pulled a goal back in the 80th minute following a corner and resulting goal mouth scramble the referee deemed the ball had crossed the line much to the annoyance of the Bournemouth players who protested and claimed it hadn’t. However a few minutes from time Rob Howard grabbed his second of the afternoon racing onto a through ball to finish and put the game to bed.

Taylor Webb almost grabbed a 4th Bournemouth goal when played in, but saw his effort come back off the post. FT 1-3
