Bournemouth Sports extended their unbeaten run of results in the league to 18 games (including those at the back end of last season) with a 4-2 win over neighbours Bournemouth Electric.
It was the visitors who started lively with the pacey Sam Lench and Dillon King posing the main threats. The hosts went close on 14 minutes when a cross from winger James Bergin found fellow winger Taylor Webb, but his header was blocked by an electric defender.
Electric nearly took the lead on 22 minutes from a corner but Sports goalkeeper Ryan Knibbs pulled off a fantastic save to keep the visitors at bay. Sports would find themselves ahead on the half hour mark when playmaker Tom Beckett played an inch perfect ball to winger James Bergin to fire home into the far corner for his 13th goal of the season.
Moments later Sports Striker Sam Darlow scored arguably the goal of the season when converting a cross with an acrobatic volley into the net giving Electric Keeper Max Frampton no chance. Electric replied on 38 minutes when William Cooper scored a great goal directly from a free kick just outside the area. HT 2-1
Into the second half and the visitors were level capitalising on some hesitation in the home defence for striker Dillon King to convert from close range. From this point on the game was very open with Electric introducing some pacey younger players in the forward positions whilst Sports opted to bring on experienced players Jamie Trimble & Josh Moody. Indeed Jamie Trimble went close on 70 minutes with a header which went just over the bar.
Sports took the lead in the 74th minute when a fine cross from Bergin was converted from close range by Josh Moody and towards the end of the game striker Sam Darlow would grab his 10th goal of the season converting from close range when Electric goalkeeper Max Frampton passed him the ball on the edge of the area.
The win still keeps Sports in 2nd place, but just 1 point behind Dorchester Sports and with two games in hand.
