Bournemouth Sports handed debuts to six new summer signings as they travelled west to face Bridport with four of the back five debutants.
The hosts took an early lead in the 6th minute following a well work near post delivery from a corner that Josh Baker converted with a header.
Sports for all of there possession were finding it hard to break down a hard working Bridport side and had to wait until just before half time before their first clear cut chance which saw Karol Borowski unable to convert from close range following a cross into the box. At the other end Sports debutant Goalkeeper Shea Woodsford was rarely troubled. HT 1-0.
Into the second half and the hosts doubled their lead in the 47th minute when the visitors seemed to switch off from a throw in which enabled Adam Steele to score with a left foot shot from the edge of the area and into the far corner.
Sports then made a double substitution introducing striker Madison Wilkin and looked more lively as he went close getting ahead of the Bridport defenders and heading the ball past the advancing Bridport Keeper Mark Cuff and being poleaxed just outside the area which surprisingly resulted in no caution or even a free kick for the offence.
The visitors from Bournemouth dominated possession throughout the second half and Jamie Trimble saw a powerful header from a set piece come crashing off the crossbar whilst Karol Borowski saw a volley from 18 yards out sail agonising over the crossbar.
Sports looked very lively with winger Borowski, Full back Perch, Strikers Voisey & Wilkin asking a lot of questions of the Bridport backline, but they held out for a 2-0 win having taken two of the very few chances they created during the game.
