Bournemouth Sports v Wimborne Town Reserves FC.

Dorset Premier League Cup. 28.10.23

Wimborne Town progressed through to the semi final of the Dorset league cup with a comprehensive victory against Bournemouth Sports on a very wet afternoon at Chapel Gate.

The visitors fielding first team players Scott Arnold, Harry Morgan & Jamie Johnston enjoyed the lions share of possession during the game although their spirited hosts also had decent periods throughout the game and created chances.

The visitors scored twice inside the opening 25 minutes of the game with some crisp finishing following good movement off the ball before Sam Darlow headed home from a set play just before half time. HT 1-2

The second half saw the hosts start brightly as they looked to push on for an equaliser, but were hit on the break as Wimborne added a 3rd. Enthusiastic Bournemouth Sports with a positive approach found themselves back in the game when a great cross from Jack Voisey was controlled well inside the box and finished off by Sam Darlow grabbing his second goal of the game.

Wimborne seemed to find another level in the last 20 minutes as they punished loss of possession and some errors by the hosts to hit three more goals in the latter stages of the game too run out worthy winners 6-2 in the end.
