Bournemouth Sports saw their impressive 21 league game unbeaten run come to an end at the hands of in form Swanage Town & Herston themselves also unbeaten in the league since early September on a blustery winters afternoon at Chapel Gate.
As was evident last Saturday the hosts got off to a poor start falling behind in the third minute when failing to close down Charlie Brassington out wide who’s cross into the box was converted by Ocean Smith following up his initial effort which came off the post to give the Swans the lead.
Bournemouth would soon find themselves back on level terms through winger James Bergin who levelled for the hosts in the 18th minute following a great through ball from Sports midfielder Dan Edwards making that 15 goals for the season to date for Bergin. A succession of corners, free-kicks & long throws failed to trouble the Swans defence which was superbly marshalled by the tall commanding central defender Ogun Gundogdu.
The visitors from Swanage went ahead shortly afterwards when the pacy Cody Moore went on an impressive run evading several Bournemouth players before squaring to Albie Turner to fire past Sports keeper Ryan Knibbs to restore the visitors lead. HT 1-2
Into the second half and with the wind picking up and changing direction the hosts struggled against it and despite having the majority of possession still failed to create any clear cut chances. The Swans by contrast played on the break utilising the pace of Moore & Smith. Both keepers were rarely troubled during the second half, but despite the hosts having lots of possession and numerous set plays it was the same story as the first half in that they were unable to break through the stubborn Swanage defence.
It was a great result for the Swans as they climb to 6th place in the table and are now 13 games unbeaten in the league campaign stretching back to September.
