Bournemouth Sports held promotion chasing and cup finalists Sturminster Newton to a 1-1 draw at Chapel Gate on a blustery afternoon. 

The visitors adopting their usual direct style found a strong and resilient Bournemouth defence coping very well with whatever was thrown at them. The half itself lacked any clear cut chances mainly settling for a number of set-pieces which largely came to no avail. 

However the Sturminster left back found himself in on goal having beaten the off-side trap only to seem to fall over his own feet when about to shoot ! a let off for Bournemouth. The deadlock was broken into injury time at the end of the half when Nick Thomson bundled home from close range following a corner giving the visitors the lead. HT 0-1

Into the second half and Bournemouth started very well and equalised in the 48th minute when winger James Bergin capitalised on some hesitation in the Sturminster defence to fire home from just inside the box. 

As the game went on both sides seemed to cancel each other out, Bournemouth with a 3 man midfield working tirelessly to deny the visitors any time and space on the ball and with a backline coping well and being very organised. 

The only real chance of the half saw Sports Goalkeeper Marc Davies tip over a long range effort, but other than that it was a hard battle for both teams who deserved a share of the spoils.

Bournemouth Sports secured a second successive away win this time in the Purbecks against the Swans running out 3-1 winners.

The visitors dominated the opening stages of the game in terms of possession, but couldn’t find the right final ball to create any clear cut chances on goal. Eventually in the 28th minute a shot from Jamie Trimble took a deflection which deceived Swans Goalkeeper Kadin Jaques and went in to put the men from Chapel Gate 1-0 ahead. HT 0-1

Into the second half and the hosts raised there game driven on by substitute Charlie Brassington. In the 47th minute last ditch defending by Sports saw a defender head a cross-shot off the line before Brassington would head his side level in the 53rd minute from a right wing cross by Dan Reeks.

The equaliser seemed to give Sports the motivation to increase the intensity and pace of the game as they would once again dominate possession and create chances. Their patience paid off in the 71st minute when a cross from James Bergin was converted by Jamie Trimble inside the box, Trimble scoring for the 5th time this season in 3 games against the Swans.

The visitors from Bournemouth finally put the game to bed in late on. Striker Jack Voisey played in substitute Jai Crowther for a 1 v1 with Swans goalkeeper, but Jaques denied him. The resulting corner from Bergin was however duly converted by Crowther as Jaques had dropped the ball under pressure.

Just two games remain for the men from Bournemouth as they look to continue with a good run of form and results following a somewhat indifferent campaign.

Bournemouth Sports recorded an impressive 3-0 win at Dorchester Sports on a wet afternoon courtesy of goals from recent signing Taylor Edwards (2) and Jamie Trimble. 

The men from Chapel Gate almost scored in the opening seconds of the game when Sports striker Sam Darlow hit a powerful shot from 25 yards out that was well saved by Dorchester keeper Nick Hutchings. The first half was a rather even affair in terms of possession, but the hosts went close on several occasions with Bournemouth Keeper Marc Davies in fine form denying them on two occasions in one on one situations. 

The deadlock was broken in the 38th minute following a long throw by Jake Perch which was flicked on by Jamie Trimble for Taylor Edwards to head home from just inside the box. HT 0-1

Into the second half and the men from Chapel Gate seemed to take control in terms of possession whilst a well organised back line marshalled by Eddie Myers caught the Dorchester strikers offside on numerous occasions. The visitors extended their lead when a great cross field pass by James Bergin found Jack Voisey who was fouled, but the referee played the advantage allowing Karol Borowski to cross into the box for Jamie Trimble to convert past Hutchings from close range.

The visitors weren’t finished yet as the impressive Taylor Edwards fired home inside the box towards the latter stages of the game to secure a good away win for Bournemouth as they look to secure a mid table finish following a season of transition.

A decent crowd of 235 turned out on a mild spring afternoon in Poole and saw the visitors from nearby Bournemouth run out worthy 2-0 winners in this local derby.

The opening stages of the first half saw very little in terms of chances being created as both sides struggled for momentum. It wasn’t until the 27th minute when Jamie Trimble was upended just outside the box by Hammers captain Louis Braggington that resulted in Sports winger James Bergin scoring directly from the resulting free kick.

Indeed Bergin nearly doubled his sides lead 10 minutes later when put through on goal by Jack Voisey, but saw his lob shot sail just over the bar. HT 0-1

The visitors from Chapel Gate dominated the second half and Bergin went close on two occasions with a cross shot on the hour mark which went narrowly over and also fired wide in the 68th minute following a good run. The Hosts saw substitute Lennon Claydon go close in the 71st minute, but his shot was straight at Sports keeper Marc Davies. 

Bournemouth finally doubled their lead nine minutes from time when striker Jack Voisey headed home from close range following a cross by James Bergin. Both substitutes for Bournemouth Jai Crowther and Jacob Aichroth went close late on in the game, but saw their respective efforts go narrowly wide of the posts. FT 0-2

Bournemouth Sports scored six goals at home again for the second consecutive week this time against basement boys Sturminster Marshall to run out 6-1 winners.

The hosts really struggled to find momentum in the opening exchanges and often saw their vast possession of the ball being wasted and creating no real chances to speak of against a packed out and stubborn Sturminster backline.

However the deadlock was broken on 20 minutes when winger James Bergin outpaced the full back and saw his near post cross converted by striker Jack Voisey. Sturminster were back on level terms immediately from the kick off when striker Ian Male scored with a great strike outside the area past Sports keeper Marc Davies.

Sports debutant Taylor Edwards saw a fantastic low strike from outside the box nestle in the far corner on 25 minutes to restore his teams lead, but other than that the half was a bit of an anti climax. HT 2-1

The men from Chapel Gate started brightly in the second half when winger James Bergin saw his near post corner creep in and Bergs would add his sides 4th goal on the hour mark following a good run and shot inside the box. New striker signing Max Mountford would grab his first goal for the club on 75 minutes converting from close range at the far post before that man Taylor Edwards would grab his second of the afternoon just before the end of the game scoring directly from a free kick just outside the area. FT 6-1

Chapel Gate 10.02.24 – KO 2PM

Westland Sports were hit for six against a resurgent Bournemouth Sports on a pleasant sunny afternoon at Chapel Gate.

The hosts took the lead in the 12th minute when striker Sam Darlow powered home a header from an excellent cross by Karol Borowski. Bournemouth had most of the possession in the first half and were rarely troubled. Westland Sports were reduced to 10 men midway through the half when a player kicked out at Darlow. 

Full back Matt Ellis went close to putting Bournemouth 2-0 ahead with a great solo run and shot that cannoned off the crossbar. At the other end and on a rare attack a Westlands striker saw his effort hit the side netting when in on goal. 

In form Sports striker Sam Darlow would grab two goals just before half time, a shot inside the box and a header from a corner to grab his hat-trick and send his team 3-0 ahead at the break. HT 3-0

Sports started where they left off at the end of the first half when a through ball by Jamie Trimble saw Jack Voisey played in, but his shot was well saved by goalkeeper Sam Watts. However in the 51st minute Darlow would grab his 4th of the afternoon with another finish inside the box. 

The hosts seemed to switch off for the next period and conceded two quick goals against the run of play. First of all from a free kick in the 54th minute a player headed home and in the 58th minute following some confusion in the Sports defence saw a player capitalise and score.

Bournemouth striker Jack Voisey raced clear of the Westland defence four minutes later and cooly fired past Watts to put the hosts 5-2 ahead before scoring again 3 minutes from time following a cross into the box by Karol Borowski and with his back to goal scored an overhead kick to complete an impressive display and performance from the men from Chapel Gate. FT 6-2

Bournemouth Sports secured back to back wins for the first time in three months with a 2-1 win against Bridport Reserves.

The first half was a scrappy affair with a cross field wind making it difficult for either team to find any rhythm. The visitors from West Dorset went close to scoring when the hosts lost possession in the middle of the pitch which resulted in a Bridport player taking a long range shot, but an outstanding acrobatic save from Sports goalkeeper Tom Straetmans denied him. 

The visitors did take the lead in the latter stages of the half when striker Josh Baker got onto a through ball over the top of the Sports defence to calmly finish past the advancing Straetmans. The hosts from Chapel Gate had the majority of possession in the first half, but were unable to create any real clear cut chances and at times their decision making in the final third could have been better. HT 0-1

Into the second half and Sports looked far more determined and played with more intensity and levelled early on when striker Sam Darlow headed home at the far post from a James Bergin cross. Indeed Darlow almost put his team ahead shortly afterwards, but saw his powerful shot from the edge of the area was well blocked by Bridport captain Jake Mansley from close range. 

Bridport rarely threatened in the second half as the hosts dominated in terms of possession and won a number of set-pieces, but were unable to capitalise on any of these. 

However it was Sports in form striker Darlow that would head home another cross from James Bergin in the 80th minute to give his team the win and three points. That’s six goals in the last four games now for Darlow as Sports look to climb the table into familiar territory.
