Moreover Balti went ahead soon afterwards with a header from a free kick which was ruled out by the referee. HT 1-1

Into the second half and the visitors went ahead in the 47th minute again through that man Wilkin. Following some excellent build up play featuring Matt Game and Gabriel Spennato who’s excellent pass split the Balti defence apart for the pacey Matt Ellis to race onto the ball and square it inside the box for Madison Wilkin to finish off.

Balti,to their credit, kept coming back and had to wait for there equaliser on 75 minutes as Sports failed to clear a corner the ball was crossed back into the box for the tall central defender to head back across goal for a player to finish off from close range.ย

As the game entered the latter stages it was the visitors from Bournemouth who finished stronger with a series of attacks coming down their right hand side with substitute Will Tuffill looking lively. Indeed Sports almost won it at the death when substitute Jai Crowther turned superbly inside the box and saw his shot cannon off the post and out for a goal kick.

Bournemouth Sports v Shaftesbury Town Reserves.

Sat 2nd September 2023

Five star Bournemouth Sports recorded their first home win of the season in style as they look to get their season back on track following a somewhat indifferent start.

The first half saw the hosts dominate in terms of possession with Sports Keeper Monty Eldridge rarely threatened. Sports took the lead midway through the half when a James Bergin cross was finished off from close range by Sports striker Madison Wilkin.

The hosts then doubled their lead just before half time when a free kick deep inside their own half by Cameron Shaw was helped on by Striker Jack Voisey for James Bergin to score his 9th goal on the season keeping him in pole position as the DPL leading scorer to date. HT 2-0.

Into the second half and once again Sports enjoyed the majority of possession and were oozing with confidence on the ball. However they had to wait until the midway point in the half to make it 3-0 when Jack Voisey followed up a good shot from Gabriel Spennato which Shaftesbury Keeper Harry Foden could only parry into his path.

Indeed Spennato would also create Sports 4th goal of the afternoon with a perfectly weighted cross into the box which midfielder Karol Borowkski controlled superbly and finished in style. The hosts weren’t finished yet as Substitute Striker Sam Darlow scored a great individual strike inside the box following good work and run by fellow substitute Will Tuffill. FT 5-0

The win and performance mirrored what the Hosts have been accustomed too during the past two campaigns and should now give them a platform to build on and climb the table.

Bournemouth Sports FC v Blandford United

26.08.23 KO 3.00pm

A highly entertaining game at Chapel Gate saw the visitors Blandford from North Dorset come away with all 3 points. Chances were few and far between in the opening exchanges before Blandford striker Mark Ford volleyed superbly into the roof of the Sports net from a ring wing cross on 15 minutes.

Sports responded well and had a lot of possession and in the 28th minute winger Karol Borowski capitalised on a mix up in the Blandford defence to score from 25 yards out. The half then filtered out with no clear cut chances for either team. HT 1-1

The second half was a somewhat lively encounter with the pace and tempo of the game picking up. Indeed the hosts almost went ahead, but a superb save from Sports Keeper Jem James kept them at bay. James had to be alert moments later to tip over a powerful shot as well.

Blandford finally made the breakthrough on 72 minutes when again James made a good save from a shot inside the box from close range only for Blandford winger George Coleman to score from the rebound.

Sports responded well and on 80 minutes were awarded a penalty as the lively Madison Wilkin was upended in the box, but saw his spot kick fly over the bar. The game was very open at this stage and Blandford put the game to bed in the 89th minute when the pacey Reuben Stanley raced clear of the Sports defence and took his goal very well. FT 1-3

Bournemouth Sports FC v Portland United Reserves.

19.08.23. 3pm KO

Bournemouth Sports gained their first point of the season against a well organised and energetic Portland side.

The hosts with the lion’s share of possession in the first half found it difficult to breakdown a stubborn Portland defence and had to wait until the 28th minute for a bit of magic from James Bergin. Winger “Bergs” scored a great left foot free kick from 20 yards out that beat Portland Keeper Sam Moggeridge to put the hosts ahead.ย

Sports went close on several other occasions during the first half whilst the visitors rarely threatened. HT 1-0

It was a certainly a game of two halves as the visitors from Portland grew into the game and equalised on the break on 65 minutes with a good run and solo effort from their player. As the game opened up, Sports began to tire and had to rely on Goalkeeper Marc Davies to pull off a number of fine saves in one on one situations to keep the visitors at bay.ย

Davies unfortunately had to leave the field several minutes from the end due to injuring his foot in another one on one dual which he won, but ended up getting hurt in the process.

The hosts from Chapel Gate, who are in a period of transition this season following some departures of experienced players and the arrival of new younger ones, were pleased to come away with something out of this game.

16.08.23 KO 6.30 pm

A highly entertaining game at Chapel Gate saw last seasons league champions Holt snatch a last gasp winner against a very enthusiastic Bournemouth Sports side and as such extending there unbeaten run to 26 league games.

It was the hosts that made a bright start with Josh Moody almost scoring in the opening seconds, but his effort was pushed over by Holt Keeper Lucas Goad. However the hosts did take the lead in the 7th minute through winger James Bergin scoring with a left foot shot from outside the box.

Sports on the front foot had the majority of possession and could have been out of sight had the finishing been a bit more clinical, but did eventually double their lead in the 37th minute through striker Jack Voisey. Holt managed to pull one back just before half time when their striker scored with a powerful shot from inside the area. HT 2-1

The visitors Holt started the second half very well and levelled in the 49th minute when a player fired through a crowd of players from the edge of the area following a corner. Moreover, Holt extended their lead on 59 minutes when a player saw his shot beat Sports Goalkeeper Marc Davies just inside his near post.

Bournemouth Sports rallied and responded well and were back on level terms on 75 minutes when Jack Voisey finished well inside the box following a corner, but it was the champions Holt who snatched victory from the jaws of defeat scoring in the last minute with a header from a corner to take all 3 points leaving the hosts shocked as they felt they deserved at least a point from the game.

Match Report – Bridport FC Reserves v Bournemouth Sports FC

12/8/2023 KO 3pm

Bournemouth Sports handed debuts to six new summer signings as they travelled west to face Bridport with four of the back five debutants.

The hosts took an early lead in the 6th minute following a well work near post delivery from a corner that Josh Baker converted with a header.

Sports for all of there possession were finding it hard to break down a hard working Bridport side and had to wait until just before half time before their first clear cut chance which saw Karol Borowski unable to convert from close range following a cross into the box. At the other end Sports debutant Goalkeeper Shea Woodsford was rarely troubled. HT 1-0.

Into the second half and the hosts doubled their lead in the 47th minute when the visitors seemed to switch off from a throw in which enabled Adam Steele to score with a left foot shot from the edge of the area and into the far corner.

Sports then made a double substitution introducing striker Madison Wilkin and looked more lively as he went close getting ahead of the Bridport defenders and heading the ball past the advancing Bridport Keeper Mark Cuff and being poleaxed just outside the area which surprisingly resulted in no caution or even a free kick for the offence.

The visitors from Bournemouth dominated possession throughout the second half and Jamie Trimble saw a powerful header from a set piece come crashing off the crossbar whilst Karol Borowski saw a volley from 18 yards out sail agonising over the crossbar.

Sports looked very lively with winger Borowski, Full back Perch, Strikers Voisey & Wilkin asking a lot of questions of the Bridport backline, but they held out for a 2-0 win having taken two of the very few chances they created during the game.
