Bournemouth Sports FC v Sherborne Town Reserves

07.10.23. Chapel Gate. The Dorset & Somerset Air Ambulance trophy.

Bournemouth Sports powered their way into the next round of the Dorset & Somerset Air Ambulance trophy win a 5-1 win against Sherborne Town Reserves in the warm autumn sunshine at Chapel Gate.

As was evident when the two sides met in the league last weekend it was the visitors who started brightly and asking a lot of questions from set plays with their direct approach. Sports took the lead from their first attack and against the run of play when Striker Sam Darlow converted from close range following a good run and cross by winger James Bergin.

The hosts struggled to find any momentum after going ahead and Sherborne had more of the ball and were causing Sports all sorts of problems with there direct approach. HT 1-0

Sports seemed to go through the gears in the second half with Gabriel Spennato scoring from a direct free kick in the 47th minute which deceived Zebra’s Goalkeeper Ryan Knibbs at his near post.

Enter Jack Voisey, The prolific Sports Marksman then hit a second half hat-trick with some master class finishing in the 56th, 60th and 77th minute to round off a great second half performance by the Hosts. The men from Sherborne grabbed a consolation goal in the 68th minute, but it’s Bournemouth Sports from Chapel gate that now face Hamworthy United Reserves in the next round.
